CRYOGENICS CONFERENCE

ABOUT IIR

Logo IIF

The International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) is the only independent intergovernmental science and technology based organization which promotes knowledge of refrigeration and associated technologies and applications on a global scale that improve quality of life in a cost effective and environmentally sustainable manner.

The IIR holds international conferences on key themes such as natural refrigerants, cold chain, magnetic refrigeration, cryogenics, compressors, phase-change materials and new technologies on a regular basis.

IIR conferences provide a unique global platform bringing together scientists and engineers from private industries, academic area and government organizations worldwide.

About Cryogenics

The CRYOGENICS Conference is an international event which deals with cryogenic engineering, equipment and physics, where temperatures below 120 K (-153°C) are achieved, as well as with other devices and related technologies. The conference topic covers three of ten commissions specified by the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR)

  • A1 (Cryophysics, cryoengineering),
  • A2 (Liquefaction and separation of gases)
  • C1 (Cryobiology, cryomedicine and health products).

The cryogenic conference series started in 1972 as “Kryogenika 1972” - a national conference organized by the Czechoslovak Scientific and Technical Society. Since then, it is held every two years except for the event in 2017 that followed a 3-year period. The original national format was slightly changed in 1982 when the Cryogenics conference with international participation took place for the first time.
A new era began in 1990 - the Cryogenics 1990 held in Košice (Czechoslovakia) was organized under the auspice of the IIR and was announced as the 1st International Conference.
Since 2012 the conference has been organized alternately in Dresden and Prague.
